Horticultural & Craft Show Success!

Dinas Horticultural and Craft Show 2019

Wow what a day! Certainly did not anticipate the level of support which our Horticultural and Craft Show generated yesterday. Got a bit manic getting all entries registered but all were in time to be considered by the judges. And what a job they had!!! Over 400 entries across 55 classes. Lots of people came in the afternoon to view and admire the exhibits.

A brilliant community event made possible by the generosity of local businesses, the efforts of the volunteers and most importantly the support of you, the community, without whose entries there would have been nothing for the judges to judge!

The Legendary Tregwynt Hoard of Coins

The Legendary Tregwynt Hoard of Coins

On Thursday June 6th at 7 pm, Yr Hen Ysgol, Dinas, is delighted to host a talk by Edward Besly, formerly of the National Museum of Wales, about the legendary Tregwynt Hoard of coins. The coins, unearthed in 1996, date from the 16th and 17th centuries and are one of the finest coin hoards ever found in Wales. The National Museum of Wales calls them ‘spectacular’. Mr Besly will talk about their discovery and his role in establishing the national importance of this amazing find.

Admission is £3, to include tea, coffee and biscuits. All are welcome.
